Faculty- Engineering- Department- Cape Peninsula University of Technology -> Engineering and the Built Environment -> Mechanical Engineering- Campus/ Location- Bellville Campus - Bellville, Cape Town, WC ZA (Primary)- Job Type- Permanent- Occupational Function- Support / Admin- Number of Positions- 1- Annual Salary Package (incl. Medical Aid rate based on principal member only)- To be confirmed- Advert Closing Date- 29/5/2023- Job PurposeTo conduct practicals. To ensure that the laboratory is prepared and well-kept for practical classes and that all equipment and teaching aids are available in time and in good working order for staff ads students during practical sessions.
- Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent
- At least 2 years working experience in Electro-Mechanical environment.
- Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities- Preparation of laboratories for practical sessions (i.e., laying out class material, setting up of equipment and any general preparations for classes/instructions)
- Do hydraulics, pneumatics and sensor benches
- To be able to do Three phase Motor wiring (Delta, Star)
- Repairing and Re-assembling of Electro-Mechanical machines
- Faulty finding of Low and High Voltage
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
- Soldering knowledge
- Administration
- Reporting
- Providing technical support to staff and students
- Awareness of health and safety in working environment
- Competencies- Good understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic and sensor systems
- Good Communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic Engineering Draughting skills
- Good organizational and planning skills
- Computer literacy in MS Office suite
- Strong learner focus
