Maintenance Foreman

My client near Pietermaritzburg is currently looking for a suitably qualified persons with experience in **Front End or Steam and Power Generation (S&PG)** for the position of Maintenance Foreman**,* reporting to the **Mechanical Engineer - Maintenance*.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing direction, technical guidance, and leadership in the Front-End or Steam and Power Generation section of the Factory to ensure plant availability, reliability, and performance of the highest standards. He will also be responsible for driving the embedding of the company way by implementing world class practices to optimise all mechanical equipment in their area of responsibility.

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**
- Supervise maintenance employees in the Mechanical discipline in the Front End or S&PG to achieve maximum plant availability and equipment capacity (Maintenance Excellence)
- Drive implementation of the company way in the Front End or S&PG sections to ensure Illovo is the best-in-class sugar producer.
- Ensure implementation of preventative / reactive maintenance initiatives and plans to reduce costs and downtime in the Front End or S&PG section.
- Identify Learning & Development needs within the team and manage them through partnering with the L&D department.
- Optimize maintenance performance in the Front End or S&PG section, by holding team accountable to achieve the highest standards of efficiencies, quality, and agreed/required standards of maintenance.
- Ensure adoption and embedding of best maintenance practices as guided by the Group Standards
- Promote a culture of consistently assessing risks, adhering to safety requirements, and promoting SHERQ compliance - drive safety as a way of life in the factory.
- Plan and supervise the daily work and performance of each employee, organize schedules, and assign work activity to achieve team and company objectives safely.
- Together with the teams, achieve daily, weekly, monthly KPIs and off-crop shutdown targets ensuring that tasks are prioritized, and planned in a logical, systematic, and cost-effective way to optimize profitability.
- Develop season and off-crop budgets with Maintenance Engineer, Operations team, and Finance Business Partner.
- Effectively manage costs and allocated budgets in area of responsibility.
- Monitor standards for setting, operating, and maintaining equipment and ensure instructions areadhered to.
- Monitor Team and individual performances, take corrective actions as and when required.
- Monitor plant performance, support, and advise teams in solving problems and/or taking correctiveaction.
- Manage work quality to reduce rework and increase plant reliability.
- Ensure continuous improvement by implementing functional best practices and conducting physical inspections.
- Work with Production team to solve problems and promote cross functional engagement & teamwork.
- Ensure Plant, Equipment and BOM information and Work Orders are captured accurately withinMaximo.
- Provide teams with necessary tools and equipment to perform work effectively.
- Ensure technical and maintenance reporting is compliant with company policy and procedures.
- Manage and maintain key engineering activities guided by the Group technical risk guidelines.
- Model leadership behaviors, collaborating, partnering, and communicating effectively within andbetween teams.
- And adhere to company procedures, policies, and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
- **Matric**:

- **National Trade Test or Diploma in Mechanical**:

- **5+ Years Artisan Fitter / Millwright (Heavy Industry), preferably sugar industry.**:

- **2+ Years Supervisory/Foreman experience (Heavy Industry)**:

- Experience in Boilers and Powerhouse or Cane Preparation, diffusion and milling mechanicalequipment is required.
- Extensive experience using planned maintenance systems, especially Maximo and SAP
- Able to work methodically and systematically in a Mill environment.
- Familiarity with company systems would be an advantage & strong leadership skills.
