Overview:
The purpose of the role is to monitor and facilitate knowledge acquisition and reporting on the effectiveness of training programmes and interventions in accomplishing the long-term skills developmental goals/ objectives of the Lafarge South Africa. The role includes equipping employees, learners with the knowledge, practical skills and motivation to carry out their work activities effectively and assessing the skills and knowledge within an organisation and determining what training is needed to grow and retain these skills.

**Responsibilities**:
**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS & OUTPUTS**
- Actively drive the development of apprentices in area of responsibility
- Trains, coaches and mentors learners
- Performs assessments and moderations, which includes final assessment (Trade Test)
- Provides advice and support to BU line management with regard to technical training matters
- Facilitates Engineering training needs identification in the various Business Units
- Develops and presents technical training courses according to accreditation and legal requirement standards
- Performs mine health and safety related activities
- Provides expert input with regard to technical training, to internal and relevant external forums
- Ensures MQA,QCTO, NAMB, etc and ETQA accredited QA system compliance
- Establish a learning culture by means of learner engagement and managing learner results
- Do relevant course admin and data capturing on a daily basis
- Deliver area specific service level agreement deliverables to line management
- Actively manage/develop own area of responsibility to ensure alignment with Lafarge South Africa strategic direction by means of regular meetings and feedback sessions
- Manage own and allocated apprentices’ Time and Attendance
- Actively manage his own area of responsibility to ensure alignment with Lafarge Africa Training Center's strategic direction by means of regular meetings and feedback sessions.
- Ensure compliance with Formal learning requirements - Training & Educational Legislation
- Alignment and Standardization of apprenticeship training practices Nationally, as stipulated by the Legislation and Training SOP's. (Document Management, Reporting, Individual Development Programs, Data Capturing, Archiving, Learner support, Portfolio building etc. ).
- Manage and partake in the advisory committees per area of responsibility
- Ensure apprentice disciplinary are done effectively to drive the good behaviour and performance of apprentices
- Design and/or customise training interventions and material
- Participate in recruitment selection of trainees (including interviews and Psychometric tests)
- Manage the delivery of training and development programmes and, in a more senior role, give inputs, were applicable, in the training strategy for the organisation
- Review and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes
- Participate in accreditation related activities and processes
- Submit training records and assessment evidence in accordance with organisational guidelines
- Moderate assessment of training interventions
- Participate in external evaluation and auditing of training system / initiatives in accordance with DHET standards, SETA Standards and legislative requirements
- Demonstrate a sound understanding and adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and continuous improvement methodology across all aspects of this role
- Consistently promote a professional image of Lafarge Africa Training Center at all times
- Ensure that expenditures stay within the annual budget approved by the Lafarge Africa Training Center Board;
- Perform other duties and/or tasks as may be assigned by the Manager from time to time

**COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS**

- Training pipelines (CE, CT, LT, etc.) and the training structure (LATC; Functional Academy; Production Learnership Academy; Leadership Academy; Generic Academy; Knowledge & Pipeline Management, Projects Legislation & Management)
- Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO), National Artisan Moderation Body (NAMB), Sector Education and Training Authority (MQA), etc.
- The Skills development act, and related technology, eg. Moderation, Assessment, Learnerships and Apprenticeships
- Relevant statutory requirements, e.g. Mine Health and Safety act and regulations, SLP, Municipal by-laws, Environmental standards, Traffic regulations, etc.
- Lafarge Africa Training Centre South Africa’s plants, production flows & processes, and what products are produced
- Lafarge Africa Training Centre, South Africa’s policies and procedures, including the framework of (Training, Assessment and Moderation) Policy and Processes (Training specific)
