Companion /mentor for Twin Autistic Adults

Companion for twin 23-year-old neurodivergent adults - Plattekloof area.

To be a “helping hand” for their unique and specific challenges and support needs, giving them the necessary guidance and support to thrive. A special interest and passion in neurodiversity and to be a secure, long-term source of support is of the utmost importance.
- To collaborate with a team to support the two young adult’s individual needs.
- Providing companionship and emotional support to the young adults at home.
- Support and scaffolding for their regulation needs (lessening uncertainty and anxiety).
- Supporting their functional independence and executive functioning skills.
- Teaching practical self-help, social and life skills.
- Driving for certain appointments and outings.
- Occasional assistance for the parents with appointments and phone calls etc.

Support and training from a multi-disciplinary team knowledgeable in the field of Neurodiversity.

A valid driver’s license and reliable car - Essential.

Fluent in English - Essential.

Being fun and relaxed with a non-demanding approach to create a comfortable environment for the young adults - Essential.

Previous experience in a role supporting neurodiverse children or adults - Essential.

Familiarity with a low arousal, neuro-affirming approach - Essential.

Knowledge of the unique support needs of a neurodiverse individual - Essential.

Ability to minimise stress and anxiety for the individual by utilising a low arousal approach - Essential.

Strong verbal communication skills - Essential.

Organisational skills, i.e., ability to implement structure - Essential.

Social and life skills - Essential.

Relationship building skills - Essential.

Monday - Friday 08:30-17:00.
