As change has swept across the sector in South Africa the socio-economic makeup of agriculture has altered, bringing new entrants from historically disadvantaged backgrounds on to the land, these new farmers, facing the challenges of establishing sustainable agri-businesses across the agricultural value chain, Land Bank has been a commercial lifeline offering appropriately designed financial products that facilitate personal and commercial viability in a sector that is vital to the sustainability of South Africa and its people.

**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB**

The Head of Enterprise Architecture (EA) is responsible for the continuous facilitation to enable strategic business outcomes through well-considered technology solutions, decisions and strategies. Enabling Landbank through innovation and technology modernisation strategy, the position will work closely with business stakeholders to understand and inform the business strategy and develop supporting technology reference architecture. The position will also provide input into Landbank’s planning cycles by guiding and influencing key technology decisions to support divisional strategies. As a senior member of the Information Technology team, the Head of Enterprise Architecture will be responsible for coaching and mentoring others with the aim of continuously improving the effectiveness of architecture practice.

**Key Performance Areas**:

- **Enterprise Architecture (EA) Strategy & Governance**:

- Establish EA governance (including Architecture Review Board, principles, and standards).
- Implement an EA strategy, monitor adherence, and manage an EA repository for storing architecture artifacts.
- **Strategic IT Portfolio Planning & Management**:

- Align IT portfolio with business objectives and outcomes.
- Lead IT portfolio management, balancing investment returns, business fit, and risk.
- Maintain alignment between EA directions and Landbank’s technology strategies.
- Map projects to capabilities and identify gaps for future investments.
- **People Leadership**:

- Manage team performance, capacity, and growth through coaching, development opportunities, and creating a professional culture.
- Facilitate recruitment, retention, and knowledge transfer within the EA team.
- Collaborate on performance management and personal development planning.
- **Strategic Technology/Solution Designs & Roadmaps**:

- Develop a modernization roadmap for legacy systems.
- Create transition solutions for gaps between baseline and target architecture.
- Develop data architecture, master data management, and migration strategies.
- **Application & Technology Modernization**:

- Collaborate with stakeholders to refresh and upgrade the technology portfolio.
- Analyze costs, value, and risks for modernization, and ensure alignment with Landbank’s architecture blueprint.
- **Budget & Financial Management**:

- Develop and manage the EA budget, contributing to the broader IT budget.
- Ensure budget adherence, control over expenditure, and report deviations.
- Advise management on cost, value, and risks related to IT investments.

**Preferred Minimum Education and Experience**:
**Minimum Qualification**:
Bachelor’s Degree in in Information Systems/ Information Technology / Computer Science or related field
TOGAF 9/10 Certification and Enterprise Architecture Working knowledge

**Minimum Experience**:
8 - 10 years in Enterprise Architecture Leadership and Doman Architect for Data, Application, Technology and Security
