**Intaka Island Nursery Assistant/ General Worker**

**Duties**:

- Propagation of plant species from seeds and cuttings.
- Bagging of plants.
- Fertilizing and watering of plants.
- Mixing of growing mediums for propagation.
- Weeding of plant beds and other specified areas.
- Cleaning of the nursery area.
- Monthly stock-taking.
- Cleaning of sign boards in and around Intaka Island.
- Assist with reporting and general maintenance of Intaka Island wetland, pathways, bird hides etc.
- Assistance with any other relevant work within the environmental division.

**Minimum requirements**:

- 1-Year work experience in Nursery (e.g., plant propagation) or related Horticultural or Nature

Conservation practices. Experience with Indigenous Fynbos Restoration would be an added advantage.
- Fluent in English
- South African ID/Citizen
- Must be willing /able to
- work shifts ranging from 07:30am to 16:30pm. have own/reliable transport, to and from work
- receive training for various skills
- Matric Certificate. National Diploma in Horticulture or Nature Conservation would be advantageous

Wages starting on an hourly rate of R 23.19 and after the three-month probationary period there is consideration for an increase.

The above position will be based at the Intaka Island Conservation Area, reporting to the Conservation Officer,
