General Reinsurance, South Africa Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for** **Underwriting Assistant - Global Property Facultative** in our **Johannesburg Office.**

**Key Responsibilities**

The Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role involving multiple work areas for Gen Re internally and externally, as well as for our clients both locally and in the UK:

- Support Underwriters in their efforts to achieve agreed goals as outlined in the Strategic Plans
- Ability to handle complex Clearances and account setups based on the supplied information
- Perform Clearance, account setup, and process a variety of pre
- and post-binding accounts
- Processing of premium within company systems per our Facultative procedures and guidelines
- Participate in training, quoting UA, bundled business, quality review, or other value-added projects
- Update local address/contact management systems and appropriate marketing tool
- Extract and prepare branch reports as necessary, and follow-up on accounts at Underwriter direction
- Cooperate with Underwriters and Global Finance in the management/follow up of receivables
- Excellent communication skills with internal and external clients in support of business and branch
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of client events

**Qualifications & Experience**

We are looking for top applicants that have graduated with a commercial degree or someone with the equivalent experience. Applicants should also have a desire to learn and acquire new skills.

- Self-starter who takes ownership and accountability for tasks
- Good commercial awareness
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent IT skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively as part of a team, deal with people at all levels and in all areas of the business and engage with clients
- Strong communication skills including verbal and written skills including the ability to summarize and explain complex information clearly and concisely.
