Fitter

**Job Advert Summary**:
**EPOL **is looking for a qualified Fitter to be based at **Berlin Mill** in **East London**. The position will report to the **Maintenance Manager**. The purpose of the role is to support the Maintenance department and to repair and maintain plant assets.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Minimum of Grade 12 relevant NQF level 6 qualification will be an added advantage
- A minimum of 3 years post trade test qualification with experience in a fast-paced FMCG environment
- Recognised Fitter trade test
- Arc, gas welding and gas cutting experience essential
- Basic workshop equipment experience with lathe, milling machines, etc
- Ability to take charge on major mechanical breakdowns with good communication and people skills
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Repairs and maintenance of all mechanical equipment
- Overhauling and assembling of all mechanical equipment
- Welding, cutting and repairs on stainless steel pipes and structural members. (Basic boiler making)
- Housekeeping
- Adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Adherence to all ISO/HACCP standards and procedures
- Attend to breakdowns.
- Inspections & planned work as per Job Cards
- Ability to plan work in terms of downtime prevention is essential
- Sourcing of spares costing for planned work
- Shift work, Overtime, call-outs and standby required
