We are currently seeking an experienced **Customs Entry Clerk. **The purpose of this position is to prepare customs documentation for any imported and exported shipments, by ensuring that all applicable laws have been met to enable clearance for cargo entry and export.

**Key Responsibilities**:(include but are not limited to)

1. Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaising with clients
- Assist with any appeals as required
- Liaise with SARS (Customs)
- Attend to customs audit queries
- Attend to custom examinations
- Assist external and internal clients on Customs technical matters, and registrations
- Liaise with officials in various agencies to ensure goods are cleared through customs or quarantine

2. Claims and Orders Processing
- Allocate correct licenses depending on the type of goods being imported
- Prepare the necessary import documentation - cargo control documents.
- SAD500/SAD507, invoices, tariffs, cargo dues, etc.
- Submit documents timeously to SARS when required
- Check documents supplied by clients for accuracy and sufficiency of detail
- Keep management updated at all times on outstanding issues
- Prepare documents for inspections
- Port health ,state vet and NRCS
- Plant Inspections
- Ensure claims related to damages and lost cargo are processed timeously in order to comply with liability and insurance requirements thereby safeguarding both the company and client’s interest
- Carry out the placement and expediting of orders while ensuring the forwarding and controlling process is correctly managed
- Allocating the correct license depending on type of goods being imported
- Post bonds for the products being imported or assist clients in obtaining bonds
- Prepare the necessary import documentation such as certificates of origin and cargo control documents
- Keep management updated at all times on outstanding issues or changes by SARS

- Ensures that all import/export documentation and procedures are followed and comply with all record keeping requirements

3. Compliance
- Registration of files (air freight, sea freight, road freight, imports, exports and crossborder)

4. Reporting
- POD reports
- Shipment reports
- Tracking of shipment

**Experience, skills and qualifications**
- Matric (High School Diploma)
- Fully conversant with import and export laws and regulations.
- 2 -3 years’ Experience in Freight Forwarding and clearing
- Knowledge of customs clearing processes and procedures related to alcohol
- General sea freight, airfreight, road freight, imports and exports knowledge
- Good Communication Skills
- Good general technical and systems understanding as well as good PC Skills (MS Office)
- Ability to work independently
- Assertive and confident
- Attention to detail
- Ability to interact with clients
- Systematic and articulate
- Computer Literate
- Ability to initiate and negotiate price structures and tariffs
- Calculating figures required to completing forms
