**The Company**
Our client is one of the world’s largest producers and marketers of copper, with mining operations and development projects in key mining regions of Africa, Australia and America. They operate on a large-scale copper and cobalt deposits, both open pit and underground, with high-grade mineral reserves.

**The Role**
Reporting to the African Regional HR Lead, this role is responsible for providing Learning and Development (L&D) guidance, analysing trends and metrics to develop solutions, programmes and policies related to L&D. Accountabilities further include driving L&D for the Copper Africa mine employees and providing a regional harmonization function to the two assets through governance and standards, and through rolling out the appropriate systems and processes. This is a permanent vacancy, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

**Responsibilities**
- Providing a T&D framework and system of work to employees, whilst ensuring harmonisation of same across the assets.
- Analysing trends and metrics informing the development of L&D solutions and programs.
- Identifying and implementing fit-for purpose training systems and processes.
- Assisting the assets in core L&D analysis & management processes, procedure & systems, and development & implementation.
- Accountability for the implementation and ongoing management of a user-friendly Learning Management System.
- Accountability for the management of the region’s Talent Management System, which includes performance management, career development, succession planning and localisation, where applicable.
- Collaboratively with the Learning and Development team and line management, proactively identify all organizational developmental training gaps, and where appropriate recommending and implementing the necessary and appropriate training interventions.
- Overall responsibility for the management of all Graduate Trainees, Interns, Bursars, Learners, and Apprentices.
- Responsibility for the coordination of all soft skills/competency training for employees, whilst ensuring adherence to standards, systems, policies, and protocols of the assets.
- Where appropriate, manage the delivery of assessments, i.e., physical, functional, or other psychometric assessments.
- Efficient and effective stakeholder management whilst adhering to performance standards for service, resolving service problems and queries with customers and internal departments, and building effective stakeholder relationships across the region and assets.
- Working closely with line management, employees and the assets to improve work relationships, building morale, and increasing productivity and retention through L&D initiatives.
- Providing guidance and input into workforce planning, talent management and succession planning to line management and the assets.
- Evaluating and monitoring training programs to ensure compliance across the region, measuring success and ROI using the appropriate analysis tools and metrics, and following up to ensure training objectives are met.
- Interpreting, adhering to, promoting, and providing guidance on the relevant Corporate Governance and Company policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that the assets are adhering to the requisite standards of processes, systems, protocols and procedures through governance and oversight.
- Producing and submitting reports and any other management information in line with business requirements.
- Leading and managing subordinate staff through training, technical guidance, coaching and performance management.

**The Requirements**
- Relevant degree
- Registered as a Psychometrist with the HPCSA is essential.
- 10 years’ experience working in an HR-related environment.
- More than 5 years’ experience in the mining industry essential.
- Track record of performing Human Resources and L&D administration as well as reporting.
- Advanced understanding of relevant labour laws.
- Excellent communication skills in English (Oral/Written).
- Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization’s hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, training needs, talent management processes and the administrative practices related to those factors.
- Proficient at reading and interpreting dashboards and reports containing data.
- Capable of setting up and tracking relevant metrics and KPls and using them to drive business results.
- Able to use technology to increase efficiency and drive business results.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Good change management and project management capabilities.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
