The KCS Global R&D Team is responsible for delivering the development road map and maintaining product stability for the Group’s strategic and growth products, many of which are sold globally.

The new role of Commercial Finance Business Partner - Global R&D has arisen due to the increasing size and complexity of the department. The role will be a key member of the Global R&D management team.

A hybrid role, the successful applicant will need to be comfortable working with base financial data as well as be able to ‘stand back’ and interpret and influence the numbers.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Business Partnering_
- Commercially support and challenge the R&D management team by providing periodic and ad hoc reporting of key financial and non-financial metrics. Drive improvement in financial and non-financial performance. Commercial interpretation of financial data for non-finance leaders.
- Recognise R&D’s multi-functional nature within KCS Group, understand the commercial balance between customer chargeable work, strategic product enhancement, product stability and customer user experience
- Work with the management team to continuously develop department processes, commercial best practice (including pricing and estimation models) and (as appropriate) manage uniform adoption across the R&D function
- Reporting and Forecasting_
- Define and regularly report on key R&D productivity metrics (team productive utilisation, Revenue vs. Budget, performance against stated roadmap milestones).
- Formally present Global R&D financial performance to a C-Suite audience each month
- Be responsible for the production of accurate revenue and cost budgets and forecasts for the department
- Contribute to the department’s longer term objectives and strategy
- Profit and loss_
- Management of revenue accounting for the R&D P+L for the Group’s strategic products:

- Monitor and report on completeness of timesheet data for R&D (people and projects)
- Convert timesheet data into Revenue to be recognised and invoiced:

- Line manage a UK based billing resource, ensure timely and accurate billing
- Work with collections teams to collect cash from customers
- Working with transactional finance teams, review and control the Global R&D P+L account

**Key Requirements**:
Essential
- Relevant BCom Degree with completed SAICA articles, significant post qualification experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Commercial mindset
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and the ability to work with large data volumes
- Familiarity and literacy with PowerPoint
- Familiarity with GAAP revenue recognition concepts
- Self-motivated, results-drive, delivery focussed and thrives in a fast paced environment
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
