**PURPOSE OF POSITION**

To provide age appropriate patient care according to the nursing scope of practice as defined by the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

**KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS**
- Must be able to practice within your scope of practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Must be competent with the Hospital’s Policies and Regulations.
- Assesses procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness.
- Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Cardiac Cath Lab team are met.
- Assists in all aspects of invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures.
- Must have experience in handling drugs and scheduling is a legal requirement.
- Equipment maintenance and motivations.
- Ability to teach staff in the unit.
- To ensure that Cath Lab is always running at the highest standards.
- Must be able to provide safe, quality patient care in the Cath Lab.
- Comply with SANC and stakeholder legislation.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**

(Educational Qualifications & Experience)
- Must be registered with SANC as a Registered Nurse with valid APC.
- Minimum of one (1) year work experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab.
- Good interpersonal skills with doctors, patients and colleagues are essential.
- Must be prepared to work additional hours.
- Must be able to work independently under minimum supervision.
- Must be computer literate - MS Word & Excel
- Must be prepared to do shift-work (Night shift / Day Shift
