As a **GISTM **Junior Engineer **you will assume day-to-day responsibility for the oversight of the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance and surveillance of mine residue and water containment facilities.

**Job Description
- Key Result Areas**:

- Responsible for Water Management and Surface Flooding Standards
- Liaising with the Competent Engineer and Engineer of Records for the MRF
- Point of contact for Venetia Mine on mine residue deposits and water issues
- Implementation of the annual water management plan with support from T&S on scoping and consultant selection for water work projects.
- Owner of the Venetia water balance, monthly data collection and liaison with T&S for annual GoldSim Water Balance update
- Perform weekly data analysis to identify problems, timely implementation of solutions.
- Facilitation, liaison and coordination with Processing, Mining, Environment and Engineering disciplines to ensure implementation of the water management plan.
- Prepare and maintain contact operational risk assurance audits as the operational representative.
- Implementing the standards, compile the self-assessment metric and update the standards annually.
- Oversee the construction, operation, maintenance, and surveillance of the MRF and ensure these are fully-aligned with the OMS manual, and with design intent as documented therein and in design/construction documentation.
- Implement the critical controls and report to Operation management on their effectiveness.
- Maintain and update on-line MRF Dashboard attributes and documents for Venetia Mine
- Ensure requisite document sign-offs are in place before uploading to the on-line Dashboard
- Use on-line Dashboard effectively to manage implementation of the Technical Standard, and to facilitate effective risk management.

**Qualifications
- Education required**:

- Grade 12/Std 10/N3 or relevant NQF Level 4 qualification
- Degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical or Hydraulics), specialty in mine residue management
- Registered professional engineer or technologist (where jurisdictions include such legislated professional associations)
- Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate) and Security clearance on mine

**Experience & knowledge required**:

- A demonstrated competent, experienced civil engineer / Geotechnical, Water resources engineer with 5 to 10 years of industry experience.
- Practical experience with the full range of mine water management disciplines
- Practical experience in tailings operations management
- Knowledge or experience in Mine Residue Facility design, construction, operation and closure
- Experience in related legislative requirements and tailing standards, environmental and techno-economic requirements
