Sanlam Life and Savings consists of three clusters - Sanlam Corporate, Sanlam Retail Mass and Sanlam Retail Affluent. The Sanlam Life and Savings Office provides strategic direction, coordination and support to the three clusters, as well as performing governance oversight that includes assurance provided by second line of defense functions in SLS, to enable us to meet our business objectives. **Business Description**:
Sanlam Life and Savings (SLS) offers retail and corporate life insurance and investment products in South Africa across the spectrum - from entry level market to high-net-worth individuals and all size corporates. The cluster provides clients with a comprehensive range of appropriate and competitive financial solutions, designed to facilitate long-term wealth creation and protection. **SLS**: Actuarial Product Management forms part of the SLS: Actuarial department and provides pricing services and technical support for businesses in SLS to ensure profitability and the fair treatment of customers.

**Output/Core Tasks**: Assisting businesses to design and launch products that meet the real needs of clients while being financially sound and not exposing the business to any undue risks - optimising synergies and the sharing of value between all stakeholders. Conducting profit testing on all individual and group business sold in South Africa's entry level, middle and affluent markets with the aim of achieving optimal financial outcomes is a critical responsibility. Provide essential product development and design support, ensuring that new offerings are both innovative and effective. Undertake ad-hoc business investigations, ensuring that any potential risks and opportunities are identified and addressed. Streamlining the pricing approval processes to ensure that they are as effective as possible. Managing and developing a large team of highly skilled actuarial staff, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to excel and grow in their roles. Historically the team has been a breeding ground for actuaries moving into business roles (including senior executive roles). What will make you successful in this role?

An Actuarial Fellowship qualification
**Experience and skills**:
Minimum 3 year’s post qualification experience
Strong interpersonal and people management skills

Knowledge of Sanlam’s products
Solid Prophet modelling experience
Understanding of insurance products, including their risks and value drivers
Valuations experience and/or product development experience
