The Florist at La Residence is responsible for creating and maintaining floral arrangements, posies and displays throughout the hotel premises. This role requires a creative and artistic individual with a keen eye for design, as well as excellent customer service skills. Collaborating closely with hotel staff to ensure that the floral arrangements complement the overall ambiance, the Florist plays an important role in making sure that La Residence meets the company purpose, which is "To give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay".

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and Create Floral Arrangements:

- Develop and execute creative floral designs that align with the hotel's brand and aesthetic.
- Select and arrange flowers, foliage, and other decorative elements to create visually stunning displays.
- Ensure the availability of fresh flowers and materials required for daily operations.
- Maintain an inventory of floral supplies, and place orders as needed.
- Install and Maintain Floral Displays in various areas of the hotel, including the lobby, reception, dining areas, guest rooms, and event spaces.
- Regularly maintain and refresh floral displays to ensure they remain vibrant and visually appealing.
- Monitor and address any issues such as wilted flowers, fading colors, or damaged arrangements promptly.
- Follow proper care and handling techniques to maximize the lifespan of the floral arrangements.
- Provide Excellent Customer Service:

- Interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, actively listening to their preferences and requests.
- Assist guests in selecting and customizing floral arrangements for special occasions or as gifts.
- Offer knowledgeable guidance on flower meanings, seasonal availability, and care instructions.
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Collaborate with Hotel Staff:

- Coordinate with the hotel's event planners, concierge, and other relevant departments to understand the floral needs for special occasions, functions, and guest requests.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations regarding floral selections, themes, and appropriate arrangements for different events.
- Assist in setting up floral decorations for weddings, conferences, banquets, and other hotel events as required.
- Work closely with the hotel's interior design team to ensure that the floral displays seamlessly integrate with the overall decor.
- Maintain Work Area and Equipment
- Prioritize and organize work assignments set out for day
- Work under pressure situations and exercise good judgements.
- Focus attention on details, speed and accuracy.
- Maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information.

REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS
- Certification or formal training in floral design is preferred but not mandatory.
- Proven experience as a florist or floral designer, preferably in a hospitality environment.
- Must have at least 2 years’ experience in a 5* Hotel or 1 years’ experience in a operations experience environment
- In-depth knowledge of different types of flowers, foliage, and plants, including their care and handling requirements.
- Proficiency in various floral design techniques, including bouquet arrangements, centerpieces, and floral installations.
- Strong creativity and artistic ability, with an eye for color, texture, and composition.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills to interact effectively with guests, staff, and suppliers.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality and aesthetics.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, including weekends, evenings, and holidays if required.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to handle and arrange flowers for extended periods.
- Knowledge of current floral trends and industry best practices is an asset.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitasking and time-management
- Proven job reliability, diligence, dedication and attention to detail.

South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.
