Are you a Bioinformatics expert ready to make a significant impact? Our client is seeking a dynamic Bioinformaticist for a Fixed Term Contract until March 31, 2025, based in Durban.

**Position Purpose**: The incumbent will play a crucial role in molecular biology and microbiology, specializing in Next-generation sequencing data analysis. Reporting to the Chief Scientist, this position requires strong bioinformatics analysis and scripting experience, including proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, Perl).

**Minimum Requirements & Key Competency**:

- **Education**: MSc in Molecular Biology or related discipline (NQF Level 9).
- **Advantage**: MSc in Bioinformatics, and a PhD is desirable.
- **Experience**: 6 years’ experience with Next-generation sequencing data analysis.
- **Skills**: Proficiency with relevant sequence analysis tools/best practices.
- **Environment**: Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment is desirable.
- **Scripting**: Strong bioinformatics analysis and scripting experience, including proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, Perl).
- **Knowledge**: TCP/IP knowledge will be an added advantage.
- **Management**: Project management, financial management, and costing skills.
- **Innovation**: Innovation and problem-solving skills.
- **Collaboration**: Ability to work with others, including international collaborators, and manage junior staff and students.
