Principal Technician: Media Studies

**DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATION, MEDIA AND INFORMATION STUDIES.**

**DUTIES**:
The Media Studies Principal Technician is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing

the operations of all equipment in the programme of Media Studies for effective maintenance,

repair, safety and use.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:

- Honours Degree in digital video production, film, multimedia technologies or other related

field.***

**Minimum Required Experience**:

- Three-year professional experience with film and video cameras and lighting is required.
- A successful work experience in a Higher Education environment.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- An in-depth knowledge of video camera, lighting and audio equipment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage resources.
- Ability to work with digital, print product and film and video production
- Must relate well with students and academic staff.
- Ability to setup and adjust lighting equipment for the shoot.
- Ability to trouble shoot and manipulate a range of hardwawer and software.
- Teamwork and team management skills.
- Must be prepared to work under pressure.
- Must be able o manage time effectively.
