**RESEARCH ASSISTANT**

**TWO (2) YEARS FIXED-TERM CONTRACT**

**KLIPFONTEIN HEALTH SUB-DISTRICT CLINICS/ PHILIPPI VILLAGE, PHILIPPI**

The main purpose of this position is perform research assistance duties at public health clinics (Klipfontein health sub-district) and Philippi Village to the PrEPared to Choose study. This will include data collection coordination, data quality control, data capturing, research process monitoring, and general research assistance.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Post-graduate tertiary qualification in any field of study (honours qualification or higher)
- At least 2 years of research experience
- Demonstrative knowledge of research data collection and/or capturing and/or quality control
- Previous work experience in health
- Fluency in English and IsiXhosa (proven proficiency in IsiXhosa is required as bare minimum)
- Excellent computer skills; proficiency in word processing and data entry
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills, including a non-judgmental attitude
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
- Strong organizational, oral and writing skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times
- Ability to multitask, work well under pressure, and to maintain effectiveness during changing conditions
- Willingness to work within public clinic environments in Klipfontein health sub-district

**Advantageous**:

- Current Good Clinical Practice certification.
- Specific clinical trial work experience
- Previous work experience in fields of HIV, sexual health and, or with adolescents
- Experience using REDCap software

**Responsibilities**:

- Work within a team delivering HIV prevention via multiple pre-exposure prophylaxis products across multiple public clinics and mobile service sites as part of a phase 3B clinical trial
- Clinic specific day to day management of project related activities, including implementation of standard operating procedures, maintenance of on-site resources, project files and documents, and liaison with clinic stakeholders
- Coordination of PrEP product hand overs between the Philippi Village and clinic pharmacy
- Coordination of laboratory sample storage and collection by external laboratory services
- Data quality control checks prior to the participant leaving the study session. Liaison with clinic stakeholders over missing clinical data points
- Data capturing and quality control checks on data captured for the project as a whole (in collaboration with other members of the data team)
- Assistance with participant retention efforts as needed (in collaboration with other members of the retention team)
- Maintain clinic-based study logs
- Maintain health promotion materials at the clinic
- Timeous reporting of study deviations, protocol-defined adverse events, current or anticipated problems, and implementation challenges to the senior study team
- Perform all activities according to Good Clinical Practice standards
- Participate in staff meetings and training
