An opportunity exists in the Tax Consulting Division of Mazars; an international professional services firm, based at Mazars House in Johannesburg. Independently acquires and leads assignments in a specialised area of tax; to carry out research relating to a variety of tax issues (covering the full spectrum of taxes); to compile appropriate reports/opinions/letters and other documents; to review reports/opinions/letters and other documents prepared by tax consultants and senior tax consultants; to liaise with clients, their advisors and SARS where appropriate; actively engaged in business development opportunities to existing and potential clients. To manage and lead a team of specialists. A sound demonstrated knowledge of mining, international tax and transfer pricing experience would be an advantage. To assist with ensuring deliverables are met and to grow the tax consulting team. To be considered, solid experience in a similar role is an absolute must.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Research
- Consulting and tax advice
- Tax calculations and reconciliations
- Tax Administration and dispute resolution
- Budget management in respect of client engagements
- Prepare proposal documents/ letters of engagement
- Manage individual productivity
- Articles, other client communication and marketing material
- Training and development
- Focus and / or Operational Group Leader
- Assist with department budgets
- Delegate assignments
- Review of work
- Recommend billings amount and timings
- Role model the organizational culture and instil culture in others
- Strategic Orientation
- Assist with performance management
- On-the-job training, coaching, and guiding.
- Build and maintain client relationships
- Grow client portfolio
- Identify cross-selling opportunities
- Strong business development acumen

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Minimum of 7 - 9 years tax experience, at least 3 of which must have been in a management role and a consulting environment
- Legal / Accounting degree plus tax qualification(s)
- Post graduate tax qualification
- Computer literate - proficient in Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Familiar with audit software - able to navigate through and use Caseware
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of tax principles (across all tax types including tax administration)
- An understanding of IFRS
- English proficiency
