Junior Tax Consultant

An exciting opportunity is available for a Junior Tax Consultant at our reputable Accounting and Tax client that is based in Cape Town.

**Purpose of the job**: The primary task would be to provide the full tax function to a portfolio of individual and corporate tax clients; whilst working closely with (and under supervision of) a Senior Tax Consultant. The position is one of support to a senior tax consultant and offers the opportunity to grow and establish experience on more complex matters.

**Salary**: R15 000 - R18 000 per Month

**Minimum Requirements**:

- A minimum of 3 years’ experience is advantageous, but not essential
- Solid knowledge of the tax system and experience in dealing with SARS on a practical level is advantageous
- Must be capable of working with little or no supervision
- Experience working on E-Filing is advantageous
- Suitable qualifications would be beneficial

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Drafting of Tax Calculations and Income Tax returns - Mostly for individuals, but for Trusts and Corporates too at times
- Sending of requests to clients for information necessary for the completion of various tax returns
- Checking of Assessments
- Capturing tax returns and assessments to database
- Assistance with drafting and submission of objections where necessary (Income Tax, VAT, Employees Tax)
- Assistance with drafting of responses to SARS queries and attending to the verification and additional information requests timeously
- Application of tax directives, tax clearance certificates, residency certificates, cease to be resident declarations etc.
- Arranging of appointments with SARS for Senior Tax Consultants
- Attending SARS Appointments where required
- Account Maintenance for all tax types
- Dealing with client queries and requests
- Assist with statutory registrations such as Turnover Tax, Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, COIDA, customs import/export, etc.
- Sourcing of IRP5's from the production houses and agencies
- Deregistration of all tax types with SARS
- Lodging complaints with SARS / Office of the Tax Ombud
- Phoning SARS for regular follow up on pending matters
- Keep daily timesheets and work towards monthly target
- Occasional slip and bank statement capturing
- The role also includes liaising with internal staff, clients, and partners and any other task necessary for the conduct of the Employer’s business, as the Employer may from time to time direct

**Salary**: R15,000.00 - R18,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Woodstock, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
