OVERALL PURPOSE
We are looking for an experienced Team Lead to join our engineering team in delivery of our platform and business bank which underpins our business.

You will need to have a solid technical background, good understanding of SDLC, and a proven track record of delivery and managing a software engineering team. In this role, you will lead a cross-functional team that designs, architects, and implements quality products within the funding and business banking domain.

You will work closely with the Product and Quality Assurance teams to ensure delivery, with quality and efficiency in mind.

Duties and responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:

  1. Lead a hybrid team of software engineers, providing clear objectives, technical leadership, mentorship and coaching
  2. Work closely with Technical Leads and Software Engineering Managers to develop and implement software engineering best practices, ensuring they are consistently applied within your team
  3. Set clear objectives and key results (OKRs) for your team members to facilitate and monitor performance and growth
  4. Work with Technical Leads and Product Managers to define project scope and objectives
  5. Identify and address implementation risks
  6. Collaborate with the Software Engineering Manager on the hiring process for new team members
  7. Foster a culture of delivery, continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering teams, encouraging experimentation

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  1. Relevant or applicable Bachelor's Degree
  2. Honours and / or Master's degree an added advantage
  3. 6-8 years experience in object oriented development (Preferably C# MVC)
  4. 2+ years of working experience as a Team Lead or similar role in an agile delivery environment with a strong software development background
  5. A practical understanding of the software delivery life-cycle
  6. Financial services or banking experience advantageous
  7. Experience managing, mentoring or leading other Developers
  8. Proven experience estimating team velocity creating project delivery plans
  9. Solid experience in cloud infrastructure, preferably Azure
  10. Solid experience in test-driven development and continuous integration
  11. Experience working with cross-functional teams
  12. Exposure to front-end technologies (React, React Native)
  13. Exposure to micro-services and / or service oriented architecture
  14. Exposure to database design
