The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is looking for a highly motivated, efficient, and enthusiastic person to coordinate and administer the health and safety matters in line with Occupational Health and Safety regulation and policy. This position requires an advance diploma or a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification with NQF 7.
A postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health and Safety will be an added advantage.
This position also requires a minimum of 4 years of work experience in the relevant field of Occupational Health and Safety. The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position:
- Ability to work with diverse teams and under pressure whilst being quality, cost, health, and safety conscious;
- Extensive experience in the implementation of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, processes, and regulatory frameworks relevant to Occupational Health and Safety;
- Health and Safety and Service focus;
- Advanced knowledge for planning and organizing, and statistical report writing skills;
- In-depth organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills;
- Excellent computer literacy and experience in the application of software tools including MS Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet, and Outlook;
- Possession of a valid driver's license with at least one-year practical driving experience and a willingness to travel is essential.
Key Performance Responsibilities include:
- Ensure Occupational Health & Safety compliance;
- Coordinate training for incident investigators and SHE representatives;
- Assist in maintaining the health and safety management system;
- Assist in coordinating and implementing occupational health;
- Provide incident reporting and management.
