About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and precise Aircraft Load Controller to join their ground operations team in Benoni . This essential role involves calculating and verifying the correct loading of aircraft cargo and baggage to ensure optimal weight and balance distribution. You will work closely with flight crews and ground handling staff to ensure that aircraft are loaded safely and efficiently, adhering to strict aviation regulations and airline procedures. Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced airport environment are crucial for success in this demanding position.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculate aircraft weight and balance, determining the precise distribution of cargo, baggage, and passengers.
- Prepare and issue load sheets and related documentation to the flight crew.
- Coordinate with ramp staff to ensure correct loading and unloading of aircraft according to the load plan.
- Verify the weight and security of all loaded items, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Monitor aircraft loading progress and make necessary adjustments to maintain balance and safety limits.
- Liaise with airline operations and other departments to resolve any loading discrepancies or issues promptly.
Requirements
- Previous experience in airport ground operations, cargo handling, or load control is highly advantageous.
- Solid understanding of aircraft weight and balance principles and procedures.
- Ability to perform complex calculations accurately and efficiently.
- Proficiency in using load control software and other relevant airport operational systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively with various teams.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in a demanding operational environment.
