About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Telecommunications Technician to join their team in Polokwane. This role is vital for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications infrastructure, including network cabling, fiber optics, and associated equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring reliable communication services for a diverse range of clients. The position requires strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the flexibility to work on various sites across Limpopo, contributing to the connectivity backbone of the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optic networks.
- Troubleshoot and repair communication lines, equipment, and systems, identifying and resolving faults efficiently.
- Perform maintenance on telecommunications infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Read and interpret network diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Work at heights and in various environmental conditions as required by project demands.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and industry best practices during installation and maintenance activities in Polokwane.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or similar role.
- Solid understanding of network cabling standards, fiber optics, and telecommunication equipment.
- Proficiency with testing equipment such as OTDRs, fusion splicers, and network analyzers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the Polokwane region.
- Relevant certifications in telecommunications or networking are advantageous.
