About the Role

Our client seeks an analytical and detail-oriented Power Systems Analyst to join their team in Upington . This role is essential for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our power infrastructure, focusing on load forecasting, grid stability, and infrastructure planning. You will perform complex analyses using specialized software to support strategic decisions regarding power generation, transmission, and distribution. Your insights will be critical in managing and optimizing our energy resources in a dynamic market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct power flow, short-circuit, and stability studies for the electrical grid using industry-standard software.
  • Develop and maintain load forecasts for various customer segments and grid areas.
  • Analyze the impact of new generation sources and transmission upgrades on grid performance.
  • Evaluate the reliability and security of the power system and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to management, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the planning and design of new power system infrastructure and upgrades.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in power systems analysis or planning.
  • Proficiency with power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PowerWorld).
  • Strong understanding of power system principles, including load flow, transient stability, and protection.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and communicate complex concepts clearly.
