Supply Chain Director

About the Role

Our client, a prominent and expanding leader in the FMCG sector, is seeking a visionary and highly experienced Supply Chain Director to oversee their comprehensive operations in the Eastern Cape, specifically based near Queenstown. This executive role demands strategic leadership to optimize all facets of the supply chain, including procurement, logistics, warehousing, distribution, and demand planning. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the seamless flow of goods to meet market demands, thereby enhancing our client's competitive advantage. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a holistic supply chain strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives.
• Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations, including sourcing, procurement, inventory management, warehousing, and transportation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
• Manage and mentor a team of supply chain professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
• Develop and manage strong relationships with key suppliers, logistics providers, and other external partners.
• Implement and leverage advanced supply chain technologies and systems for better visibility and control.
• Develop robust demand forecasting models and ensure effective inventory management to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, safety standards, and ethical practices.
• Develop and manage the supply chain budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and value creation.
• Mitigate supply chain risks and develop contingency plans for unforeseen disruptions.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain management, preferably within the FMCG industry.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex, multi-site supply chain operations.
• In-depth knowledge of supply chain planning, logistics, and procurement best practices.
• Strong experience with ERP systems and advanced supply chain planning tools.
• Exceptional leadership, team management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Strategic thinker with a strong operational focus.
• Experience in managing significant budgets and driving cost-saving initiatives.
• Strong understanding of international trade and customs regulations is a plus.
