Electrical Field Service Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leading provider of specialized industrial equipment, is seeking an experienced Electrical Field Service Engineer to join their technical support team based in Nelspruit . In this crucial role, you will be responsible for providing on-site technical expertise for the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of our client's complex electrical systems and machinery at customer locations. You will be the face of the company in the field, ensuring customer satisfaction through prompt and effective technical solutions. This position requires extensive travel to various client sites and demands a high level of autonomy and problem-solving capability. Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and test electrical systems and equipment at customer sites according to technical specifications and manuals.
• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, mechanical, and control system issues in the field.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and service activities on customer equipment.
• Provide on-site technical training and support to customer personnel.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
• Prepare detailed service reports, documenting work performed, parts used, and recommendations.
• Manage spare parts inventory and tools required for field service operations.
• Liaise effectively with the customer's technical staff and management.
• Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies during field operations.
• Contribute to the improvement of product design and reliability based on field experience.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in field service, technical support, or maintenance of complex industrial electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control systems, PLCs, VFDs, and instrumentation.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment in a variety of industrial settings.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude is beneficial.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region and occasionally internationally.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while on the road.
