About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a proactive and experienced Lead Process Safety Engineer to spearhead safety initiatives within their remote operations. This critical role will ensure the highest standards of process safety are maintained across all project phases, from design through to operation. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety management systems, contributing to a robust safety culture irrespective of geographical constraints. As a remote leader, you will leverage technology to foster collaboration and drive safety excellence for our operations in and around Tembisa , ensuring compliance and minimizing risks effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures.
- Lead and conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and HAZID studies.
- Oversee the management of change (MOC) process to ensure safety is integrated into all modifications.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver process safety training to relevant personnel across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with national and international safety regulations and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety engineering, with a significant focus on the oil and gas industry .
- Proven expertise in conducting various PHAs and developing safety cases.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, IEC 61511), and guidelines.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills, particularly for remote team management .
- Experience in developing and implementing safety culture initiatives.
