Wireless Network Specialist

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing telecommunications innovator, is actively seeking a talented Wireless Network Specialist to join their expanding team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and support of wireless networks, including Wi-Fi, cellular, and point-to-point/multipoint systems. You will play a key role in ensuring seamless connectivity and high performance for our client's diverse range of services. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for staying at the forefront of wireless technology advancements. Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable and reliable wireless network solutions for various applications.
• Deploy, configure, and maintain wireless network hardware and software, including access points, controllers, and routers.
• Conduct site surveys and spectrum analysis to identify optimal placement and potential interference sources.
• Monitor wireless network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and implement performance enhancements.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for wireless network designs, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to integrate wireless solutions with existing infrastructure.
• Stay current with emerging wireless technologies, standards, and security protocols.
• Provide expert technical support and guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
• Ensure the security and integrity of wireless networks through robust security measures and regular audits.
• Manage project timelines and deliverables for wireless network deployments remotely.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level wireless networks.
• Strong understanding of wireless technologies such as 802.11 (Wi-Fi) standards, cellular technologies (4G/5G), and microwave links.
• Proficiency with wireless network management and security tools.
• Experience with network simulation and analysis tools.
• Knowledge of RF principles, propagation, and interference mitigation techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, particularly in a remote setting.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Relevant certifications such as CWNA, CWNP, or vendor-specific wireless certifications are a strong asset.
• Must be eligible to work remotely in South Africa.
