Manager: Brand and Marketing Communications

As part of your portfolio as Manager: Brand and Marketing Communications, you will be:

  • The Manager: Brand and Marketing Communication is responsible for supporting in shaping and safeguarding MTN Fintech's brand reputation by strategically communicating its narrative to enhance stakeholder sentiment.
  • This role ensures alignment, adoption, and execution of Group Fintech's brand strategy, brand campaigns, and initiatives across its footprint.
  • By collaborating with OPCOs, enablement functions, product verticals, and partner agencies, the incumbent drives consistent and compelling brand messaging.
  • With a proactive approach to reputation management and strategic communications, they ensure effective engagement, performance outcomes, and market trust in MTN Fintech's innovation and leadership.
  • Assist in the development and execution of Brand and MarComms GTM frameworks for FINTECH.
  • Define principles and support Operating Companies in implementing go-to-market strategies for various products/services.
  • Align strategies with business objectives, considering market trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights.
  • Provide input to review and update brand playbooks based on feedback and evolving market needs.
  • Leverage market and consumer insights to support GTM plans and campaigns, using data from internal and external sources.
  • Conduct market research, analyse consumer behaviour, identify target audiences, and develop engagement plans.
  • Gather and analyse data on consumer preferences, market trends, and competitor activity to inform marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with Group Fintech Vertical teams and other departments to adapt and implement brand playbooks at the operational level.
  • Coordinate with Operating Companies across MTN Fintech footprint to ensure consistent brand initiatives and campaigns.
  • Support the development of tools and dashboards to track the adoption and effectiveness of Brand and MarComms initiatives.
  • Develop and execute marketing plans that identify target markets, marketing channels, and promotional strategies.
  • Optimize campaigns to maximize ROI and achieve business goals where required.
  • Track and analyse key metrics using analytics tools to assess overall marketing campaign performance.
  • Report and analyse brand performance concisely, focusing on required actions and opportunities.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to the management team, identifying areas for improvement and making data-driven decisions.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders on projects related to role delivery.
  • Collaborate with product development, commercial operations, risk and compliance and any other team to align marketing efforts with overall business objectives.

The "Must-haves" we look for in an incumbent

  • Minimum of 4-year Business/Commercial/Marketing Degree, or equivalent
  • Post-graduate degree related to the marketing function, an advantage
  • 6-10 years of brand and marketing management work experience in a multinational business environment (understanding of emerging markets advantageous)
  • 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role
  • 2-3 years' experience in the services industry, especially financial services
  • Experience in leading or active engagement in change/transformation (marketing) at an operational level (Advantageous)
  • Experience in brand management with customer research, ideally in the financial services/mobile money sectors (Advantageous)
  • Experience in continuous improvement through the implementation of best practices
