Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Industrial & Mining Projects

Job Type: Full-Time, Office & Site-Based

Job Summary:

We are seeking Electrical Engineers at various experience levels, from graduate engineers to experienced professionals, to join our team. This role focuses on electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, and control systems for industrial plants, primarily in the mining and mineral processing sectors. Additional responsibilities include project management, client and supplier relations, quality assurance, project documentation, administration, and other related engineering tasks.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of experienced Professional Engineers (PrEng) and technicians, working on a diverse range of projects and equipment. Typical equipment includes cranes, crushers, conveyors, screens, pumps, induction furnaces, agitators, valves, and all associated plant equipment.

We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn, take on responsibility, and grow within the organization. A strong willingness to develop new skills and adapt to challenges is more important than prior experience alone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Engineering & Design Support:
  • Assist in or lead electrical system design, installation, and commissioning for industrial plants.
  • Make engineering decisions and document them thoroughly.
  • Review and redline drafts, with occasional drafting as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Project & Client Management:
  • Support or manage key clients and maintain strong client relations.
  • Assist in overseeing project progress, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical and civil engineers.
  • Engage with suppliers to source and specify electrical components.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
  • Conduct or assist with site inspections, commissioning, and quality assurance checks.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
  • Develop and review technical documentation, reports, and specifications.
  • Project Documentation & Administration:
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including engineering drawings, reports, and specifications.
  • Track project progress, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist with procurement, record-keeping, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, up to date, and aligned with project requirements.

Requirements:

  • BEng degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Open to graduates with limited experience and professionals with 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering for industrial and mining projects.
  • Strong problem-solving, technical, math, and science skills.
  • Curious mindset and willingness to take on responsibility.
  • Eager to learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Experience in AutoCAD (or similar drafting software) is an advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel when required.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience in instrumentation and control system design.
  • Familiarity with PLC, SCADA, and automation systems.
  • Experience in high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) system design.
  • Previous experience working on projects across African countries.
