About the Role
Our client, a rapidly growing e-commerce fulfillment center located in Mossel Bay, Western Cape, is seeking a reliable and efficient Local Delivery Driver with a Code 10 license to join their team. This role is crucial for ensuring timely and accurate delivery of packages to customers within the Mossel Bay area and surrounding towns. You will be operating a company vehicle, responsible for safe transit, accurate record-keeping, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate possesses excellent knowledge of local routes, a strong commitment to punctuality, and a keen eye for detail. This is a demanding but rewarding role for individuals who enjoy being on the road and contributing directly to customer satisfaction. We are looking for someone who can independently manage their daily routes and handle the physical demands of loading and unloading parcels.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a delivery vehicle (Code 10) safely and responsibly in compliance with all traffic laws and company policies.
- Load and unload packages securely, ensuring items are handled with care to prevent damage.
- Plan and execute daily delivery routes efficiently to meet scheduled delivery times.
- Provide accurate proof of delivery, obtaining signatures or necessary documentation from recipients.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized delivery vehicle, performing basic daily checks.
- Report any vehicle issues, delays, or delivery discrepancies to the supervisor immediately.
- Communicate professionally with customers, addressing inquiries and ensuring a positive delivery experience.
- Accurately track delivery progress using company-provided devices or logs.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols established by the company.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while representing the company.
Requirements
- Valid South African driver’s license with Code 10 endorsement.
- A valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a delivery capacity.
- Good knowledge of Mossel Bay and surrounding Western Cape routes.
- Clean driving record with no serious infractions.
- Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 25kg.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and possess a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience with handheld delivery scanners is a plus.
