Assistant Manager for African Family Safaris

African Family Safaris & Tours (AFS) is a new tour operator that will be dedicated to family travel in Africa, to make it easy and memorable. Not only will we specialise in family Safaris, but we will also strive to promote sustainable, eco-friendly and responsible safaris, holidays, tours and vacations. We endeavour to use suppliers who are uplifting local communities, promoting responsible family safaris and who are aware of their impact on their surrounding environment. Our staff and clients will be fulfilled knowing that wildlife knowledge is being passed down to future generations and we encourage children to become future conservations in the making.

This great new safari brand is part of the City Sightseeing group which is a globally recognised brand that specialises in Hop-on Hop-off bus tours, allowing travellers to explore Cape Town and Johannesburg at their own pace.

Responsibilities:

This role is for African Family Safaris, and you will be exposed to and assist in the marketing team at City Sightseeing South Africa.

Start up:
  1. Set up the product range
  2. Contracting for families and luxury and short safari stays and ensure there are the best possible rates
  3. Set up the social platforms with the digital social media co-ordinator
  4. Update the website
  5. Add packages to Safaribookings.com
  6. Itinerary Customisable Builder Software - quotation and itinerary system set up either Safariportal, WETU, SafariOffice or similar
  7. Set up itineraries that are suitable for 4- and 5-star family travel
  8. Send out press release for the start up
  9. Create guides
  10. Check for real-time availability system
  11. Check for other domains
Day-to-day responsibilities:
  1. Manage product in line with the Manager, which includes supplier meetings
  2. Online product management
  3. Contracting
  4. Offers: Honeymoon, Special, Combo deals
  5. Oversee familiarization trips
  6. Operations
  7. Build itineraries
  8. Keep the websites updated and other online portals e.g. safaribookings.com
  9. Assisting in preparing reports
  10. Any other new systems
  11. Support by providing sales data, market trends, forecasts, supplier account analyses, new product information and relaying any other requests
  12. Design monthly newsletter
  13. Assist with API links
  14. Overseeing Database
  15. Training of all new systems
  16. Supplier figures / stats
  17. Website stats
  18. Public liability
  19. Keep game lodge information updated
  20. Itineraries – ensuring these are updated
  21. Tripadvisor
  22. Community aspects
  23. Effective operation of all systems and related applications
  24. Business and user system needs
  25. Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  26. Work with decision makers, the Manager and other stakeholders to define business requirements and system goals and identify and resolve business systems issues
