Role Description

This is a volunteer Lay Counsellor role located in Sea Point at Kuthetha Nathi / Talk To Us. The Lay Counsellor will be responsible for providing emotional support, guidance, and counseling to individuals facing challenges or seeking advice. This opportunity provides valuable real-world and professional experience for anyone in the mental health field.

Qualifications

  • Training in lay counselling skills
  • Active listening and empathy skills
  • Client-centered approach with non-judgmental attitude
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical boundaries
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience or training in counseling or psychology is a plus
  • Understanding of mental health issues and resources
  • Fluency in additional languages is beneficial
  • Completion of counseling courses or certifications is beneficial
