The General Manager is responsible for the management and performance of the Warehouse Operations, Inventory, Transport Operations and Customer Service in his region. Responsibility to driver health and safety and create a conscious food culture. Building and monitoring operational capacity and processes to ensure the sustainability of the Distribution Centres' operations at the right cost and to the right quality standards.

Warehouse, Inventory & Transport Management:
  1. Ensures all quality audits are passed.
  2. Ensures all operations comply with Company policy and procedure.
  3. Improves operational KPI's year on year.
  4. Ensures DC facilities and equipment are maintained and in good working order.
  5. Overseeing Inventory Management.
  6. Reviewing Replenishment put away and Inventory control operations.
Customer Service:
  1. Achieve customer contracted service levels.
  2. No restaurant below the minimum service level over a 12-month period.
  3. Ensure that customer complaints are resolved quickly.
  4. Build and maintain sound relationships with the market.
  5. Develop human capital, processes and procedures and ensure they are continuously actively pursued in the areas of process, quality, service level and cost improvements.
Reporting:
  1. Presents and explains performance per of the DC.
Costs and Budgeting:
  1. Achieve budgeted cost per case per DC.
  2. Delivers budgets per DC that meet specified mandate.
  3. Ensures DC master schedules are optimal, accommodate growth and meets the customer's needs.
  4. DC contingency plans are always up to date.
  5. Operational risks are timeously addressed and mitigated.
  6. Ensure that all KPI's are met, and risk is mitigated.
  7. To be an active role player and promote a food safety culture.

To carry sound knowledge of the FSSC 22000 standards.

  1. To lead the food safety Team and update them on all relevant changes and or improvements.
  2. To be accountable for all internal and external audits and ensure smooth running of the audit procedure.
  3. To Create awareness and ensure staff are conscious about food safety and quality protocols in the distribution centre.
  4. To ensure general awareness of the facility general Health and safety representatives in case of an emergency.
People:
  1. DC Manager's performance is reviewed at least 4 times a year.
  2. Succession plan for DC managers is always up to date.
  3. Continuous training and development according to training requirements are met and up to date.
  4. Continuously coaches and mentor's staff.
  5. Host monthly staff meetings with minutes.
  6. Ensure that all staff maintains certification.
  7. Ensure succession plan in place for career levels.
  8. Liaising with the HR department to understand all the necessary aspects and needs of HR development, and ensure all staff is fully informed of HR objectives, purposes and achievements.
  9. Manage a stable HR climate in the workplace.
  10. Liaising with HR regarding overtime and absenteeism, motivating staff, recruiting staff, training, mentoring, coaching and development of staff according to company policies and procedures.
  11. Conduct regular performance appraisals with subordinates and ensure that the process is cascaded throughout the warehousing team.
  12. Develop and manage high performance multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems within the distribution centre.

The above list is not exhaustive, and you shall be obliged to perform subsidiary tasks in addition to the primary tasks for which you are employed. The Company undertakes to ensure however, that these subsidiary tasks will be within the training and experience or occupational capabilities of yourself and that you shall not suffer any loss of remuneration or status for work performed on subsidiary tasks.

Senior Operational Management Experience including but not limited to:
  1. Warehouse Management
  2. Inventory Management
  3. Transport Management
  4. Supply Chain Management
  5. Customer Service Management
  6. Shift Management
  7. Health & Safety Management
  8. Facility & Asset Management
  9. Management of multi temperature stock items
  10. Management of complex, multi-site, multi-disciplinary, multi-culture organizations.
  11. Integrated strategy formulation and execution within large organizations of 400 plus employees.
People Management including but not limited to:
  1. Probation Management Performance Management
  2. Time and Attendance Management
  3. Disciplinary Enquiries, including investigations, initiating and chairing.
  4. Sound knowledge of Payroll Processes
  5. Organizational planning.
  6. Change Management
Minimum Qualifications required:
  1. Grade 12
  2. Relevant Tertiary Degree, Honours Degree in Business / Supply Chain Management or similar, MBA would be advantageous.
