About the Role
Our client is looking for a meticulous and capable Electrical Engineering Technician to join their operational team in Durban . In this hands‑on role, you will support the engineering department in the maintenance, installation, and testing of electrical systems and equipment within our energy facilities. Your expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting complex electrical issues, ensuring operational continuity, and implementing preventative maintenance strategies to uphold the highest standards of safety and efficiency in the energy industry . This position is ideal for a technically proficient individual eager to contribute to the reliable functioning of vital energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems and equipment.
- Assist engineers with the installation and commissioning of new electrical plant and machinery.
- Conduct electrical testing and diagnostics to identify faults and performance issues.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, test results, and equipment history.
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols.
- Support the implementation of electrical system upgrades and modifications.
Requirements
- National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (N3 or higher).
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in an industrial or power generation environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, PLCs , and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region.
- Understanding of safety procedures in high-voltage environments.
