Our client in the Government and Public Sector is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst/Specialist to join their diverse and performance driven team.

Duties:

• Establish the data requirements of internal/external clients throughrunning consultation for developing data definitions and standards.
• Identify potential data sources through defining the data requirementsand hypotheses, searching the general data environment and establishingpartnerships and/or agreements with data custodians.
• Receive data in line with agreed partnerships, arrangements and/oragreements with internal/external clients as required.
• Review and normalize each set of data received from different sourcesthrough verifying the reliability, consistency and accuracy of the data interms of data infrastructure standards.
• Integrate data from different sources through creating an integrated dataframework, establishing relationships between data and identifying potentialdata conflicts or duplication.
• Design, develop and support databases required for BI/GIS reporting.
• Work closely with the IT team to install, configure, maintain andadminister database servers as and when required.
• Work closely with the IT team to ensure that the security and integrityof the database is maintained at all times.
• Work closely with the IT team to ensure that backups of the database aredone and restored daily.
• Work closely with the GIS team to build spatial geodatabases.
• Analyze and manipulate raw data and create information products that canbe used across various business units of the organization based on clients’needs.
• Use GIS software to collect, analyze and interpret spatial data.
• Use statistical software packages such as Microsoft Excel or R toprocess and summarize large volumes of qualitative and quantitative data.
• Use programming, scripting and/or model builders to develop spatial andstatistical models that could be used to support operational and strategicdecision-making.
• Interpret findings from data analysis and develop conclusions andrecommendations for application by clients.
• Use Business Intelligence tools such as Microsoft Excel PowerPivot orTableau to visualize operational and strategic data in the form of interactivedashboards and infographics.
• Use various GIS tools to visualize spatial data effectively.
• Develop presentations and communicate findings of analyses to variousclients.
• Guide principles for datavisualization and train fellow employees on best practices for datavisualization techniques
  

Requirements

• At least a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Geo-informatics,Statistics, Engineering or related disciplines.
• Must be literate in Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server,Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables & Power Pivot and Microsoft Access.
• Must have experience in Tableau and/or other BI tools, as well asintegration with statistical packages such as R.
• More than five years of current experience designing, implementing, andmaintaining databases and applications in a relational environment, along withexperience in data visualization, data analysis and working with largequantities of data.
• More than three years of current experience in GIS and statisticalmodelling.
• Experience in assessing client needs and translating them intoinformation products and services is also required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Business Intelligence, data management anddata visualization is required.
• Excellent statistical and analytical skills are required.
• Advanced database design and SQL skills are required.
• Programming and scripting is required to develop statistical or spatialmodels.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Must be able to pay attention to detail and work under time constraintsto accomplish project deadlines.
• Keep abreast of new trends and innovations in businessintelligence, database design, spatial and statistical modelling, as well asrelated hardware and software.
• A valid driver's license is required as traveling is required fromtime-to-time.
