Job Advert Summary

PURPOSE: To perform maintenance tasks on infrastructure and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12/Standard 10 Technical (Essential/Minimum)

• N3: Engineering Relevant (Essential/Minimum)

• Trade: Millwright MQA/QCTO (Essential/Minimum)

EXPERIENCE:
2-3 years of applicable technical and maintenance experience within a heavy industry, production, mining or pyro-metallurgical environment. (Essential/Minimum)

REQUIREMENTS:

• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)

• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)

• Pub Driv Lic: Code B (Essential/Minimum)

• Medium Voltage Switching (Essential/Minimum)

• Competence: Core MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)

• Competence: On the Job MQA Modules Assess (Essential/Minimum)

Duties & Responsibilities

Compliance, Governance and Assurance

  1. Ensure compliance with applicable statutory Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)/Mine Health and Safety Acts (MHSA), regulations and prescriptive.
  2. Adhere to planned maintenance schedules.
  3. Ensure equipment is maintained to maximum performance according to specifications of instruction manuals and train support personnel accordingly.
  4. Maintain programming of circuits, panels, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), motherboards and relevant equipment according to workshop manuals and instructions.

Equipment Control and Maintenance

  1. Inspect and repair all assets and equipment and all surrounding infrastructure.
  2. Conduct monitoring, testing, fault finding and problem solving.
  3. Assume responsibility for maintenance and new installations and maintain all records accordingly.
  4. Maintain relevant equipment including medium frequency inverters, furnace melt managers and refractory lining monitoring equipment installation.
  5. Safe operation and control of medium to high voltage switchgear.
  6. Plan and order parts to minimize production delays due to tool, equipment and instrument failure.

Inspection and Control

  1. Inspect all tools, equipment, instruments prior to use.
  2. Inspect all vehicles, machines and mechanical equipment to identify defects.
  3. Report defects immediately.
  4. Carry out inspection according to a specific schedule to repair identified defects.
  5. Receive, complete and return job cards.

Safe and Healthy Work Environment

  1. Adhere to all health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis.
  2. Address all unsafe practices and potential hazardous situations and rectify/report to superior.
  3. Comply with Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) and technical requirements.
  4. Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  5. Complete Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) on work being performed.
  6. Attend safety meetings.
  7. Responsible for safekeeping and maintenance of own PPE.

Skills Management

  1. Transfer knowledge and give guidance to artisan aides and trainees to improve their skills.
  2. Co-ordinate maintenance with the operators during stoppages and keep downtime to a minimum.
