Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for this Education Technology and IT teaching, full-time position, of Primary School Curriculum Innovation Mentor.

This position will cover from Grade R in the Foundation Phase to Grade 6 in the Intermediate Phase.

Required Education and Experience:
  1. A relevant teaching degree and qualification from a recognised institute.
  2. Any of the following accreditations: Microsoft Certified Expert Educator, Microsoft Certificated Trainer, Apple Teacher, Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Certified Teacher, TSSA Trainer, Promethean Certified Trainer.
  3. Five years of successful classroom teaching experience with a technology-rich learning environment and experience in the professional development of educators.
  4. A proven track record in the use of best practice instructional methods, curriculum design, the use of technology to improve instruction.
  5. The ability to build professional mentoring relationships, solve problems, plan collaboratively, and provide feedback effectively.
In-depth Knowledge of:
  1. Current educational tools including online learning.
  2. Subject curriculums, curriculum development, and best practices in learning and teaching pedagogy within the Innovation and IT portfolios.
  3. Developing enquiry-based and project-based learning activities for 21st-century learners.
  4. Critical and creative thinking strategies.
  5. The teaching of coding and robotics and the relevant curriculum.

  1. Well-developed interpersonal and collaboration skills and effective communication and presentation skills.
  2. Ability to quickly adapt to new systems, applications, and to evaluate and curate resources for research purposes.
  3. High-end educational user and advocate in the transformative nature of new technologies and resources.
Key Performance Areas:
  1. Create and facilitate school-based, high-quality professional development working with teachers to refine their knowledge and skills in using technology to support and enhance teaching and learning.
  2. Training may include in-class instruction, one-on-one meetings, and facilitated group workshops.
  3. The teaching of Information Technology, coding, and robotics, from Grade R – Grade 6.
  4. Mentor teachers in and model design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences using a variety of research-based, learner-centred instructional strategies, resources, and assessment tools to address the diverse needs and interests of all learners and to increase achievement emphasizing creativity and higher-order thinking skills.
  5. Design and implementation of active learning spaces and live events and broadcasts.
  6. Actively engage in new educational strategies and tools, including conferences and workshops.
  7. Adhere to, model, and communicate copyright, digital citizenship, as well as other laws and guidelines pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of all resources.
  8. Contribute to the development, communication, and implementation of the shared strategic vision for the comprehensive use of technology.
