Core Purpose

The Admissions and Selections Academic Manager ensures that the main objectives of the Admissions and Selections Department are met by monitoring departmental academic functions, providing guidance to the selection of students based on regulation and the institution's admission and selection criteria for the purposes of admitting prospective students, both nationally and internationally, and to advance the strategic objectives of MANCOSA.

Core FunctionsManagement and Administration
  1. Lead the Directorate with a strong focus on quality and ensuring alignment with regulatory compliance in all the structures, policies, and processes.
  2. Quality assure and manage formal processes related to admissions and selections.
  3. Oversee the enterprise digitalisation agenda of the Department.
  4. Consistently update knowledge on changes in legislation and policy in the education landscape.
Admissions and Selections
  1. Ensure the targets are met for each intake and turnaround times are adhered to.
  2. Oversee Recognition of Prior Learning.
  3. Oversee Credit Accumulation and Transfer.
  4. Identify, monitor, and evaluate statistics.
Regulatory Bodies
  1. Prepare for and ensure attendance at any site visits.
  2. Participate and contribute to any regulatory body and institutional QAF activity.
  3. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and to the focus areas of the Instructional Audit Framework as part of the Quality Assurance Framework.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum Master's Degree (Essential).
  2. Doctorate or studying towards a Doctorate (Preferred).
Experience
  1. Minimum 8 years of academic work experience in a higher education institution and minimum 5 years' experience at management level (Essential).
  2. More than 10 years of academic work experience in a higher education institution (Preferred).
  3. Strong academic specialisation focus in the areas per faculty.
Essential Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour
  1. Proven Academic Operational Management Acumen.
  2. Experience in the design, development, and accreditation of new programmes.
  3. Experience in formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  4. In-depth knowledge of Education and Training legislative framework.
  5. Experience in dealing with regulatory affairs and academic quality assurance processes within a higher education environment.
  6. A proven teaching and research portfolio with curriculum development and assessment design experience.
  7. Risk management, communication, and business acumen skills.
  8. High level of competency in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  9. Effective leadership and management skills.
  10. Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  11. Analytical and quantitative skills appropriate to the management of measures of student success and learning analytics.
  12. The ability to plan, manage, and implement change effectively.
  13. Ability to lead and manage projects to agreed deadlines.
  14. An understanding of the principles and practice of policy and operational development, implementation, and evaluation.
  15. Proven ability to drive policy and improve quality.
  16. Extensive knowledge of innovative Teaching and Learning modalities.
  17. Extensive knowledge and experience of developing pedagogic practice.
  18. Self-motivation and capacity for innovation.
  19. Integrity and good judgement.
General
