About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Telecoms Fiber Optic Technician to join their fully remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic networks. You will ensure the integrity and performance of fiber optic infrastructure, contributing to the reliable delivery of high-speed data services. Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and splice fiber optic cables in various environments (e.g., aerial, underground, indoor).
- Perform testing and certification of fiber optic links using OTDR, optical power meters, and other specialized equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic network faults to restore service promptly.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of fiber optic infrastructure.
- Ensure all work is performed according to industry standards and company safety procedures.
- Document network installations, test results, and repair activities accurately.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications in fiber optics are essential.
- Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Technician or in a similar role within the telecommunications industry.
- Proficiency in fiber optic splicing techniques and the use of related equipment.
- Experience with fiber optic testing equipment (OTDR, power meters, etc.) and interpreting test results.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic cable types, connectors, and network architectures.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate records in a remote setting.
