Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The role requires the incumbent to do marketing in support of the civil laboratories. He / She will be responsible for all marketing related tasks, targeting existing and potential clients. He / She shall be responsible to provide feedback, submit reports, tenders and quotations. To ensure that the laboratories and Regional Managers receive all leads and stay up to date with the information, with excellent quality of service, which contribute to accuracy, productivity and profitability.

Specific Responsibilities
  1. Engage with local markets to determine trends and competitive environments.
  2. Focus on Regional and Global Industrial Services.
  3. Conduct market analysis and utilize this to engage with local teams to develop business plans that align with the SGS global strategy.
  4. Identify acquisitions and, where appropriate, include them in the business plans.
  5. Implement business plans in conjunction with local and regional teams.
  6. Raise the profile of SGS within the Industrial Services sector by working closely with global and local teams.
  7. Conduct market analysis and research, following through to the development, approval, and implementation of business plans.
  8. Implement business plans with national, regional, and international teams.
  9. Support and coordinate the regional development of strategies and implementation plans.
  10. Establish close working relationships between the regional and local Industrial Services teams to identify sales opportunities.
  11. Manage tender contracts linking Industrial Services by supervising cost calculation, internal rate structures, and training regional branches.
  12. Identify necessary qualifications for acceptance in local markets, e.g., certifications and accreditations.
  13. Cooperate with other BDMs to maximize sales efforts for specific projects and common global clients.
  14. Identify potential opportunities for other Business units as appropriate.
  15. Support the preparation of sales and marketing material; attend exhibitions and other promotional activities.
  16. Prepare and support regional sales forecasts and feasibility studies for new services.
  17. Work closely with other strategic business units in the Industrial services business line.
  18. Collaborate with Global and local Experts to develop the business.
  19. Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
  20. Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the direct line manager.
  21. Travel and overnight through the assigned region as required.
Specific Authorities
  1. Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed a safety hazard or entry to hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection, and take action to address the hazard.
  2. Cease work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and take action to address the issue.
  3. Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified, or when nonconformity is identified.
Qualifications
Education
  1. Business Qualification an advantage and/or proven years of marketing/business development knowledge, skills, and experience sufficient to be recognized as a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning.
  2. Grade 12
Experience
  1. Minimum 5 years experience in an Industrial services/project Management environment.
  2. Experience within the Civil Engineering Industry is compulsory and must be familiar with the latest construction materials testing methods.
Competencies
  1. Strong change management capability.

  3. Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  4. Able to adequately represent SGS with confidence.
