Business Development and product consultation for the Factory Automation portfolio but with focus on SCADA solutions in South Africa and surrounding market for WinCC Professional, WinCC Unified, WinCC V7 / 8, Braumat, WinCC OA and IPC's.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Supports the respective sales organization of the unit in approaching and serving potential customers best and advise both sales organization and customers in capabilities and options how to use and integrate Siemens' offerings effectively (Simatic WinCC, TIA Portal, S7 products).
  • Serves sales organization and customers as an expert in product application with respect to the portfolio of the assigned organizational unit.
  • Constantly analyzes product portfolio of the dedicated customers' overall goals and objectives.
  • Consults with customer stakeholders to integrate Siemens' products and gives strategic, commercial and organizational recommendations.
  • Creates respective technical and commercial concepts and offerings to support the sales process.
  • Plans and completes consulting assignments to industry partners on technical and commercial level.
  • Takes responsibility for new orders or consulting projects.
  • Supports the sales organization in contract negotiations at all stages with information and analyses.
  • May be responsible for identifying and developing business opportunities and innovating consulting portfolio.
  • Provides technical assistance to focus customers.
  • Develops and presents PLC / SCADA solution proposals, including estimating, compiling bill of materials, system architecture diagrams and RFP / RFQ responses.
  • Provides customers and account representatives with strategy and solution advice and support during Pre-Sales discussions on PLC / SCADA solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 5 years' project experience in the Industrial Automation industry.
  • Computer / Electronic / Electrical engineering degree or diploma.
  • Technically involved in recent PLC / SCADA project is mandatory.
  • General understanding of IT networking and remote communication, including GPRS & 3G communication, modems, private APNs, VPNs, routers, LANs, WANs, VLANs, firewalls.
  • Basic understanding of industrial communication protocols like Profibus, Profinet and MODBUS.
  • Previous experience working with JAVA, SCADA and PLC platforms, including Siemens technology (Advantageous).
  • Must have a basic understanding of industrial communication protocols like Profibus, Profinet and MODBUS.
  • An understanding of horizontal and vertical OT / IT integration.
  • Solutions thinking individual with interest in developing into Automation consultant with Focus on SCADA systems.
  • Willing to travel in and outside the borders of South Africa.
  • Ability to work autonomously.

  • Willing to evolve with the current technology and business strategy.
  • You have worked on many plant control / monitoring projects in this field and have personally commissioned a few of them.

  • Someone that is also comfortable with sales and comfortable with presenting in front of a large audience.
