Background : Peace Parks Foundation is a non-profit conservation organisation that specialises in conservation at scale through the development of transfrontier conservation areas and the long-term management of key protected areas, in partnership with government conservation agencies and communities within these landscapes.

We currently focus on the development of five priority transboundary landscapes measuring over 65 million hectares throughout southern Africa, and the co-management of ten national parks and protected areas covering over 5.2 million hectares.

Job Purpose : The Data Coordinator is responsible for leading and overseeing the implementation of the organisation's Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework. This role will involve designing and implementing robust MEL systems, conducting data analysis, and generating actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making.

The Coordinator will work closely with programme teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and utilisation, ultimately contributing to the organisation's impact and accountability.

Role Responsibilities :

  1. Strategic MEL coordination : Develop and implement MEL plans and log frames aligned with the strategic framework. Oversee the design and implementation of monitoring plans for key programmes and initiatives. Provide technical guidance and support to programme teams on MEL methodologies and tools.
  2. Data management and analysis : Lead the collection, cleaning, and management of high-quality data from diverse sources. Conduct advanced data analysis using statistical software and data visualisation tools. Generate insightful reports and dashboards to inform decision-making and programme improvement.
  3. Knowledge management and learning : Facilitate knowledge sharing and learning within the organisation through workshops, training sessions, and documentation. Conduct research and literature reviews to identify best practices and emerging trends in MEL. Support the development and implementation of a learning agenda to capture lessons learned and inform future programming.
  4. Partnership and collaboration : Build strong relationships with programme teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and data sharing. Represent the organisation at external meetings and conferences to share knowledge and expertise.

Role Requirements :

  1. B.Sc. Hons in Science with Data Management
  2. 3 to 5 years experience in a similar role
  3. Data modelling : Basic understanding of data modelling concepts and techniques, including statistical modelling and data transformation.
  4. Data management : Familiarity with data management principles and practices, including data quality management (Google Sheets specifically required)
  5. Data visualisation : Ability to create basic data visualisations using tools such as PowerBI, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and web-based dashboards.
  6. Communication : Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey data insights and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  7. Problem-solving : Ability to identify and solve basic data-related problems using analytical thinking skills.
  8. Attention to detail : Meticulous attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  9. Teamwork : Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
  10. Continuous learning : Willingness to learn new data analysis techniques and tools to stay up to date with basic industry trends.
