Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or a related field.
  • Registered with HPCSA or equivalent regulatory body.
  • Previous experience working as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Proficiency in operating nuclear medicine imaging equipment and software.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety principles and protocols.
  • Clear police clearance.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Flexibility to operate across multiple sites if required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Perform nuclear medicine procedures with a focus on patient safety, comfort, and quality care.
  • Radiopharmaceutical Preparation: Prepare and administer radioactive materials for imaging and therapeutic procedures following strict protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Imaging Procedures: Operate specialized imaging equipment such as gamma cameras, PET scanners, and SPECT scanners to acquire high-quality images of internal organs and tissues.
  • Image Processing and Analysis: Process, analyze, and interpret nuclear medicine images to assist physicians in making accurate diagnoses and developing treatment plans.
  • Quality Control: Perform routine quality control tests on imaging equipment and radiopharmaceuticals to ensure optimal performance and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Radiation Safety: Implement radiation safety measures to minimize exposure risks for patients, staff, and the public.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and optimize diagnostic accuracy.
  • Continuing Education: Stay abreast of advancements in nuclear medicine technology and participate in continuing education and training activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about nuclear medicine procedures, including risks, benefits, and post-procedure instructions.
