Interior Designer

A reputable beauty and lifestyle brand working in the Spa, Wellness, and Hospitality sector is expanding its team. We are seeking a highly creative, detail-oriented and innovative Interior Designer with expertise in exclusive spa concepts, high-end retail, and lifestyle brand environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, conceptualizing, and executing aesthetically pleasing and functional interior spaces that align with the brand's identity, customer experience goals, and wellness-focused ambiance. Additionally, this role includes sourcing and procuring high-quality materials, furniture, décor, and other design elements that enhance the brand's luxurious and sustainable ethos.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Interior Design & Space Planning
   1. Develop innovative, functional, and visually appealing interior designs for spa, wellness space, retail, and holistic, cosmetic concepts.
   2. Create mood boards, design presentations, sketches, and 3D renderings to communicate design concepts effectively.
   3. Ensure that designs align with brand guidelines, customer experience goals, and industry trends.
   4. Collaborate with architects, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project feasibility and smooth execution.
   5. Conduct site assessments and provide space planning solutions to optimize flow, functionality, and aesthetics in accordance with the theme and concept of each of our properties.
2. Product & Material Sourcing
   1. Identify and source high-quality materials, furniture, lighting, textiles, wall finishes, and décor elements suitable for high-end wellness facilities, retail and holistic spaces.
   2. Build relationships with vendors, artisans, and sustainable suppliers to ensure access to premium, eco-friendly, and cost-effective products.
   3. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery timelines with suppliers to ensure budget-friendly and timely procurement.
   4. Stay updated on trends in wellness-focused interiors, sustainable materials, and innovative design elements to enhance the brand's aesthetic appeal.
   5. Ensure all sourced products align with health and safety regulations, durability standards, and environmental considerations.
3. Brand Alignment & Experience Enhancement
   1. Maintain a cohesive and immersive brand experience across all interior spaces, reflecting the company's luxury, wellness, and sustainability ethos.
   2. Enhance the customer experience by incorporating sensory elements such as lighting, textures, scents, and acoustics that elevate relaxation and engagement.
   3. Integrate technology where applicable, such as smart lighting, digital displays, and touchless experiences in retail and spa settings.
4. Budget & Project Management
   1. Develop and manage budgets for interior design projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
   2. Oversee project timelines, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining high standards of execution.
   3. Work closely with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless design implementation.
   4. Address and resolve any design, sourcing, or installation challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle.
5. Compliance & Sustainability Integration
   1. Ensure all designs and sourced materials comply with local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
   2. Prioritize the use of eco-friendly, sustainable, and ethically sourced materials that align with wellness-focused spaces.
   3. Promote sustainable practices by integrating energy-efficient lighting, recycled materials, and low-VOC paints into the design.

Education & Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in interior design for spas, luxury retail and/or holistic wellness spaces and concepts.
3. Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and functional designs in luxury wellness spaces.

Technical & Design Skills:

1. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D rendering software (such as V-Ray or Lumion), and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
2. Strong knowledge of materials, finishes, lighting, furniture, and spatial planning for high-end spa and retail environments.
3. Familiarity with ergonomics, wellness design principles, and customer experience enhancement strategies.

Sourcing & Procurement Expertise:

1. Experience in vendor negotiations, cost analysis, and procurement strategies for interior furnishings and décor.
2. Knowledge of luxury and sustainable product suppliers in the wellness and cosmetics industry.
3. Ability to assess product quality, durability, and compatibility with spa and retail environments.

Project & Business Management Skills:

1. Strong budgeting and cost management skills for interior design projects.
2. Ability to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple projects, and manage stakeholder expectations.
3. Excellent communication and presentation skills for internal and external collaborations.

1. Passionate about aesthetic design, wellness spaces, and brand storytelling.
2. Strong attention to detail, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
3. Ability to adapt to changing trends and consumer preferences in spa and retail design.

5. You would need to be flexible in travelling to various destinations locally and internationally.
6. You would need to be living in Cape Town permanently and be able to work from the office on a more full-time basis.
