Job Purpose:

GEW is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Contract Manager to lead contract negotiations, supplier evaluations, risk management, and contract compliance monitoring. This role will also manage the Contract Centre and play a key role in fostering collaborative supplier relationships.

As a permanent member of the GEW Bid Committee representing Procurement, the Contracts Manager will work closely with senior management, the Marketing team, and the Programme and Bids department. The successful candidate will ensure that procurement strategies align with GEW's business objectives while maintaining robust supplier relationships and ensuring contractual compliance.

Qualifications and technical requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in contract management, procurement, or a similar role.
  • Experience working in an international procurement environment is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and contract management software.
  • Proven ability to negotiate favourable contract terms while maintaining positive supplier relationships.
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills with a focus on price, delivery, quality, and performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and meet strict deadlines.
  • In-depth understanding of financial aspects related to contract negotiations.
  • Knowledge of international procurement processes and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Proficiency in contract management software to streamline processes and document management.
  • Skilled in resolving contractual disputes through negotiation or legal channels.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Contract Management and Partnerships:
  • Implement systematic segregation and categorisation of contract documents, maintaining organised and accessible records.
  • Ensure all contractual compliance issues are resolved before procurement processes are initiated.
  • Collaborate with the HENSOLDT risk management team to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
  • Demonstrate expertise in international import/export taxation regulations to ensure compliance and cost efficiency.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage procurement contracts, ensuring alignment with business objectives and legal requirements.
  • Negotiate purchasing contracts in collaboration with the marketing team and verify supplier compliance.
  • Lead strategic sourcing efforts to identify and evaluate suppliers, ensuring value for money and quality standards.
  • Manage the full contract lifecycle on the Contract Centre, including execution, performance monitoring, modification, and termination.
Relationship Management and Partnerships:
  • Develop and implement a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) strategy.
  • Act as the primary liaison for all contract-related supplier discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with audits, B-BBEE requirements, and other regulatory assessments.
  • Collaborate across procurement, legal, finance, and project teams for seamless contract execution.
  • Represent Procurement as a permanent member of the Bid Committee.
  • Support Procurement Officers in resolving supplier queries promptly.
Data Management:
  • Maintain and update records and databases related to strategic procurement, including external provider documentation and vendor changes on the ERP system.
  • Verify and reconcile discrepancies in procurement policies and procedures.
Reporting:
  • Generate and present:
    • Monthly SharePoint reports on contract statuses.
    • Monthly HENSOLDT Go savings reports (ESG-related).
  • Commercial and Financial Oversight:
    • Evaluate financial implications of contracts, including pricing, cost management, and payment terms.
    • Support cost-saving initiatives through effective contract negotiation.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including timely payments and deliveries.
