STEYN CITY SCHOOL LOCUM DIRECTOR OF SPORTS

The Director of Sport will report to the Head of Co-curricular and will be an effective leader and manager with a strong background and breadth of experience in sport and the provision of sport, whether at school and/or professional level.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Qualification and experience in a relevant field and SACE certification.
  2. Experience of the sporting sector at Preparatory and College level.
  3. Foster a spirit of support and engagement for all sporting activities in the School.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Where required, serve on the School Management Teams.
  2. Serve on the Calendar, OHS, and Facilities Committees.
  3. Serve on the Sport Councils and the Awards Committees.
  4. Ensure that Steyn City School's sport is inclusive and provides opportunities for every student at the correct level.
  5. Ensure that our safeguarding responsibilities are front and centre of all we do.
  6. Take the lead in developing colleagues' skills and aptitude as sports coaches by leading a culture of continual professional development and providing training opportunities and courses to support the School's sporting aims.
  7. Play a full role in the life of the School during the course of each term.
  8. Set an example by coaching a range of teams.
  9. Prepare and submit the annual sporting budgets to the Head: Co-curricular.
  10. Ensure the short- and long-term strategy for the development of a competitive co-curricular programme is actioned.
  11. Ensure that Steyn City School is represented in district, provincial, and national structures wherever possible.
  12. Lead, mentor, and support sport in the school.
  13. Liaise closely with the Operations Manager to ensure that all facilities are maintained.
  14. Liaise closely with the Head Groundsman to ensure sporting venues are prepared for fixtures.
  15. Coordinate the allocation of sporting venues.
  16. Organize fixtures (including interschool and interhouse fixtures), tours, performances, and festivals.
  17. Draw up the sports programme for the co-curricular timetable.
  18. Sign off on all team selection by ensuring a fair trialling process is followed.
  19. Manage inventory lists for all sporting codes.
  20. Manage the co-curricular sports rosters, enrolment, and attendance registers.
  21. Coordinate the co-curricular sports allocation of the academic staff.
  22. Coordinate and run the interhouse sport programme.
  23. Manage the injury procedure.
  24. Manage the School bus system.
