Broadreach Energy (BRE) is a fast-growing renewable energy solutions provider, focusing on sustainable energy, financing, and management of green energy projects across Southern Africa. We provide solar PV, energy efficiency solutions, and battery storage, primarily for commercial and industrial clients. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a reliable, trustworthy, and detail-oriented individual to join our finance team and contribute to the smooth operation of our accounting and financial processes.

Role Overview :

The Accountant will be responsible for managing the accounts receivable function across 18 active companies under Broadreach Energy. Additionally, the role will encompass VAT and tax compliance, including the management of tax filings and submissions. This is a fast-paced, high-achieving environment where attention to detail, independence, and a proactive work ethic are essential.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Accounts Receivable :
  • Draft and send monthly invoices to clients
  • Manage aged receivables and debtor collection processes
  • Communicate effectively with clients to manage relationships and resolve payment issues
VAT and Tax Compliance :
  • Oversee VAT, PAYE, and income tax compliance, managing all submissions via SARS eFiling
  • Ensure the accurate submission of VAT201 returns, VAT reconciliation, and reporting of VAT transactions
  • Manage income tax compliance, including the submission of IT14 returns for all active companies
  • Address any queries or disputes with SARS and ensure ongoing tax compliance for all companies
Reconciliations and Financial Administration :
  • Reconcile bank receipts and payments in Xero
  • Perform monthly supplier statement reconciliations
  • Assist with preparing the audit file and addressing queries raised by auditors
  • Provide supporting documentation to auditors as required
Other Financial and Administrative Duties :
  • Assist with ad hoc financial tasks and reporting requirements from the Head of Finance
  • Provide general bookkeeping support as needed, ensuring all financial processes are maintained accurately

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Accounting degree or equivalent qualification
  • Experience with Xero Accounting Software is highly preferred
  • Strong experience in accounts receivable, VAT management, and tax compliance
  • Advanced eFiling experience, including VAT, PAYE, and income tax submissions
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment is advantageous
  • Experience in renewable energy or infrastructure projects is a plus

Skills Required :

  • Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets
  • Familiarity with Hubdoc and similar financial tools
  • Strong knowledge of VAT, PAYE, and income tax eFiling systems, and South African tax compliance matters

You will work in a dynamic, high-achieving team where attention to detail and managing multiple tasks is critical. This is a fast-paced role that requires an individual who can take responsibility for their work and manage priorities independently. You will be supported by the Head of Finance but are expected to manage your tasks autonomously.
