Penta Consulting supports technology resource solutions across EMEA. We're currently supporting a key client of ours, looking to grow their team with a AWS Solution Architect, working hybrid in South Africa (Cape Town).

We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Solution Architect with a strong background in financial services and banking, as well as hands-on experience with AWS Connect. As part of our dynamic team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing and optimizing cloud-based solutions that meet the unique needs of the financial services sector. Your expertise in AWS architecture will help us deliver scalable, secure and cost-effective solutions, while your knowledge of AWS Connect will ensure smooth, efficient customer engagement services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and architect AWS-based solutions tailored to the needs of the financial services and banking sectors, focusing on security, compliance, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand technical requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Lead the end-to-end deployment of AWS Connect solutions for customer service and engagement applications, ensuring integration with other systems and processes.
  • Implement best practices for high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning of AWS environments.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, helping to solve complex challenges in cloud architecture, security, and design.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of appropriate AWS services and tools to meet business needs, with a focus on cost optimization.
  • Develop and maintain solution architecture documentation and design patterns.
  • Conduct regular reviews of AWS environments to ensure cost efficiency, scalability, and security compliance with industry standards.
  • Stay updated on AWS innovations and emerging technologies, and identify opportunities to leverage them in the financial services industry.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and industry best practices, especially those relevant to financial services (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS, SOC 2).
  • Provide training and mentoring to junior team members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in AWS solutions architecture, with a deep understanding of AWS services and infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing cloud solutions for financial services or banking environments.
  • Strong experience with AWS Connect, including setup, customization, and integration with other systems (CRM, CTI, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and others.
  • Familiarity with security and compliance requirements in the financial services industry.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architectures.
  • Strong understanding of cloud cost optimization, architecture best practices, and automation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present and explain complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or similar advanced certifications.
  • Experience with serverless architectures and automation using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Knowledge of cloud migration strategies and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and CI/CD pipelines in AWS environments.
  • Experience with financial systems, including payments platforms, fraud detection, and trading systems.
